Recent incident of police lathi-charge on ABVP workers after declaration of DAV (PG) college students’ union election results, has given an opportunity to the Opposition to raise this issue inside the House in the upcoming monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, which is going to begin on September 18. By resorting to caning the students, police has shown that they have close affiliation with the Congress party, which is ruling party in the State.
As a precautionary measure Dehradun Police had imposed curfew in and around Karanpur as if some murder or riot took place. Even they did not allow local residents to move outside their house. Hapless parents, who had dropped their ward in school in the morning, had to struggle hard to pick up their ward from school because police had stopped entry of vehicle or person movement.
Although in the evening police tried to pressurise local shopkeepers to open their shutter as if everything was under control. Perhaps police forgot that shopkeepers open their shop when customer movement happens because they open their shop for business not for the sake of police. Most of the shop owners have employed helping hand to facilitate the customers.
Talking to The Pioneer, leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt said that police, have become henchmen of Congress party so they could not digest ABVP candidate’s victory in DAV college and had resorted cane to appease their patron. It is known to everyone that Dehradun police is working under whose instructions. Before DAV election it was known covertly that police is implementing the instructions of Congress leaders but now it is proven. He warned that the BJP would raise this issue inside the house, which is their right.
Political analysts said that congress led state government, which had already delayed the session but they had to call the session because as per the constitution gap should not be more than six months in between two session, had to answer the question as well. Realising this Dehradun police had begun fire fighting exercise and claimed more than a dozen police personnel were injured so police had to resort mild lathicharge.
Dehradun Police, who is having so called specialisation in manning traffic and believes on cat principal, which closes their eyes while having food as if nobody is listening, and Police stop public movement to show everything under control. For instance they have imposed one way system on Subhash Road especially upto State Police headquarter (PHQ).
Recently President Pranab Mukherjee visited Dehradun then police forced shopkeepers to down their shutters in Harrawala as if they had intelligence input about some untoward incident may happen. It has raised question mark that did they bother to compensate the loss of business community due to forceful closure of shops.
They might have forgotten that most of the people, who have been working in shops, are working as daily wagers. It means when police were patting with each for peaceful conduct of the president visit then these daily wages worker were sleeping with empty stomach and were consoling their ward that they could not earn their livelihood due to inhuman police behaviour.
