DAV PG students intensify protest against principal

The students of the DAV PG College students’ union forced closure of the colleges of State capital on Monday in support of their demand for removal of college Principal Devendra Bhasin.

The DAV students’ union had requested the student leaders of major colleges like DBS PG college, SGGR PG college and MKP PG college to support them in their agitation and all of them reciprocated by closing their respective colleges.  Groups of students also roamed in these colleges to ensure that the strike call is a success.

Meanwhile the indefinite fast of the student leaders in the college campus for removal of Principal Devendra Bhasin continued on Monday too.

In an effort to sort out the issue the Principal of the College had constituted a committee under leadership of director of student union Ajay Saxena and authorised it to initiate dialogue with the agitating students.  One of the committee member and Chief Proctor S V Tyagi said that the student leaders have been asked to give their demands in writing on the issue. However the agitating students outrightly rejected holding talks with any such committee.

The President of the DAV students’ union Rakesh Singh Negi, trashed the constitution of the committee and said that since the committee is constituted by the Principal it holds no value. He said that the students are now planning to meet the Higher Education Minister Indira Hridayesh and demand that the State Government should initiate action against the Principal.

The students are on path of agitation from October 08, when some students allegedly caught one student which was given admission in PG course against the norms set by High Court.  The allegation however is denied by the Principal and other faculty members.
