The administration of DAV PG College has cancelled the admissions of eight more students and lodged FIR against them. These students had used fake certificates of sporting events and managed to get admission by securing additional marks for these certificates. The college has cancelled 26 admissions in the llB course this year so far.

The Principal of the college, Dr Devendra Bhasin said that on the complaint that some students have managed to get admissions on the basis of the fake certificates, an enquiry headed by Dean Student welfare, Dr Jeevan Mehta was constituted.  This committee found that the documents submitted by 18 students are fake when the it approached the universities for verification, he added.

In the second phase the committee started scrutiny of the documents submitted by the students for admission in sports quota. Bhasin said that the committee took help of sports-persons and other knowledgeable personalities and found eight certificates fictitious. Interestingly the committee found out that four students had downloaded the format of sports certificates available on internet and made certificates. Bhasin informed that the college has also cancelled the admission of four students in B.Sc. fourth semester. He said that from next year the documents of the students would be certified at the time of admission itself.
