The student union of DAV College burnt the effigy of district administration and education department in nearby college premises on Wednesday. The students vented their anger on the district administration for failing to rein in the private school operators who are harassing the parents. Addressing the students, the president of DAV College Paras Goyal said the education department and district administration are protecting the private school owners who are engaging in all sort of dirty tricks to extract money from the parents of their students.

He said the District Magistrate (DM) had stated that he would take action against those schools against whom the complaints of parents are received but he had taken no action despite of the fact that there are scores of complaints against these schools. The students threatened that they would be forced to launch a massive agitation if the district administration and education departments keeps ignoring the misdeeds of the private schools.

Meanwhile the members of the parents association also continued with their agitation against the private schools. On Wednesday, a delegation of the parents association met the District Education Officer (DEO), Parmendra Saklani and apprised him about the Indian Academy School which is demanding of sum of Rs1,150 from every student for annual function. Interestingly, the school is demanding the money in the month of April for the function which is in the month of November. The members demanded that the education department should take action against the school.
