The administration of DAV College here is gearing itself for the challenge of holding student union election. The biggest college of the State in numerical strength of students curtailed the process of admission on Saturday.
The Principal of the college, Devendra Bhasin said that a total of 7500 students have so far taken admission. He said special measures have been taken to maintain order during the election and prevent malpractices. He warned that strict legal action would be initiated against those involved in election related malpractices. The Principal hoped that the college administration would get support of all candidates, student organisations and students in the elections.
Bhasin said that the last date for admissions was August 26 but the students can deposit their fees till August 28 for taking part in voting. “Only those who have deposited their fees would be issued identity card and they would be able to participate in the polls,'' he stated.
The college administration would give final touches to the electoral rolls after the August 28 and they would have the photograph of the students. The Principal clarified that the students can also deposit their fees after August 28 and get admission but in that case they would not be able to take part in the elections.
