In one of a rare events a proud father would be marching in the Republic Day parade along with daughter. Subedar Meharban Singh Bhandari (Rtd) would be representing Ex-Servicemen’s contingent of parade on January 26 while his daughter Captain Neelam Bhandari belonging to 54 Engineering Regiment would be part of Army’s women contingent. The event is also a proud moment for the State of Uttarakhand which has a long history of military service to the nation.
“I had a long-cherished ambition to join some Army parade with my daughter and the fulfillment of the dream kept eluding me throughout my entire career, but now the most-awaited moment has come,” a beaming Bhandari said. He has attained superannuation from 5 Garhwal Rifles after thirty years of glorious combat service while his daughter joined Indian Army in Engineering Division during 2010.
