D Senthil cancels teachers' promotion, constitutes enquiry

Published on:

Taking strong exception of unwarranted amendments in the postings of teachers who got promoted recently, the Director General (DG) of School education D Senthil Pandian has cancelled all the promotion amendment orders delivered on May 02 and constituted an inquiry on the issue. The Primary education Director Seema Jaunsari would head the inquiry committee.

The DG reportedly got furious when he realised that senior department officials amended the list without caring to take necessary permission. The promotions to the post of lecturers were done by the department recently and it was found that places of postings of 96 teachers were amended by the department officers on May 02, without taking prior approval of Director General. The department prepared a list of 1,383 teachers in month of October last year after departmental promotions. This list was submitted to the DG from where the list was sent to Principal Secretary School Education and Education Minister.

In a strongly worded letter Pandian said that since the names of the teachers in the amended list were part of the main list, the officer concerned should have taken his approval. The DG has asked additional director Secondary education NK Bahuguna to clarify as to why and under what rules such large number of amendments were made in the postings of teachers. In his order DG has asked the inquiry officer to complete the inquiry in 15 days. The inquiry officer Jaunsari would also prepare a list of the teachers who have joined their duties after the promotions and who have not.
