Published on:

Since adventure tourism has of late been one of the most preferred tourism activities  for tourists, so to explore new avenues of adventure tourism in the mountain State like cycling and biking tracks is the top priority of the State Government.

We are on the way of developing cycling and biking tracks across the State so that necessary boost could be given to the tourism sector, claimed Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, while exhorting the professional associated with tourism industry at programme in Bhimtal on Sunday.

The State Government has  already ventured into adventure tourism sector by way of developing river-rafting and other adventure sports. At the same time, CM Rawat also called upon the professionals associated with tourism including the hoteliers and tour operators to conduct adventure tourism activities in lakes like Nainital lake, Bhimtal, Naukuchiyatal, Saattal to a name a few. More so, he also assured them that the Government would provide due support in organising such  tourism activities.

Now Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage will be the centre of attractions in the State’s tourism calendar of events, the CM said. We are also working to integrate cultural and religious fairs that are organised in different parts of the State throughout the year, with tourism, he added.

Therefore, a calendar of these cultural as well as religious activities is being prepared with necessary preparations so that Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage and important tourist destinations  could be put on global tourist map and more tourists could be attracted to Uttarakhand, maintained the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister was of the view that today the hill State’s rich traditions, folk culture, traditional trades are on the margin of our modern life. That is why it is the high time to conserve our rich cultural heritage, he further said, calling upon the people associated with tourism industry to work in this direction.

The private sector has played a huge role in developing tourism sector in the other parts of the country and abroad. So we appeal to the professional associated with tourism sector to come forward and develop tourism infrastructure in the State, added the Chief Minister.
