Security is not the responsibility solely of security personnel but should also be viewed as a responsibility that lies with everyone. The special task force, senior superintendent of police, P Renuka Devi said this at a cyber security day organised at ONGC headquarters in Dehradun in view of existing and emerging cyber-crime threats.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion the STF SSP said that the scope for cyber threats has also increased with the rise in online transactions following demonetisation. For organisations like ONGC which handle sensitive data, awareness about cyber security is very important. Solving cyber crime is more difficult than solving conventional crimes due to complexities faced in identification of culprits and also their locations. Cyber crime incidents occur mainly in financial/banking institutions, social networking sites and big institutions. Awareness is a vital part of prevention of cyber related crimes, she added. ONGC officials including GM (IE) –Head HRG VK Gupta, GGM-HCA, Preeta Pant Vyas, DGM (E&T) Sumita Chadha and chief manager, in charge of security, Dehradun, VK Khanduri were also present on the occasion.
