In view of increasing cases of cyber crime, applicants for the posts of sub-inspectors will be asked questions related to computer applications in their written entrance examination. To strengthen investigation in the police stations, the police have decided to recruit 514 sub-inspectors out of total 864 recruitments to be made in the State police.

The police department will soon start recruitment process of constables and sub-inspectors in the state, said Uttarakhand Director General of Police BS Sidhu. “We have sent a proposal for formation of 50 new police stations to the state government recently. Fifty percent of total 514 posts of sub-inspectors will be filled through open competition while fifty percent will be filled through departmental promotion," he added.

Sidhu further said that the process of recruiting sub-inspectors and constables will begin soon and will be completed within four or five months. The selected candidates will undergo nine months academy training in Narendranagar and later they will be sent to different training centers in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. “Our objective is to provide best training to them," he added.

After assuming charge, DGP has laid emphasis on recruiting additional sub-inspectors in place of constables in order to strengthen investigations in the department. He believes that the nature of the policing has changed and now department needs police force which can effectively work to maintain law and order and conduct investigation efficiently on registered case.

DGP said," There has been an increase in cases of cyber crime and with the implementation Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) in the state, we need police force with good knowledge of computer applications. So we have decided to ask questions related to computer applications in their written entrance examination.”

It should have been mentioned here that after approval for recruitment from Governor, the state government has recently released an order for the recruitment of 864 sub-inspectors and constables in the state.
