Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar on Friday recommended open inquiry in two cases, while chairing a meet to settle cases related to vigilance probe. Probe would be carried out against nine officials, including seven engineers and two clerks of PWD.
The committee decided to carry out open probe regarding construction of 159 houses for urban poor under Integrated Housing for Slum Dwellers Programme (IHSDP) in 16 local bodies by UP Project Corporation that was assigned construction work. The Executing agency constructed only 79 houses and reportedly left the work incomplete. Even several FIRs were registered against the agency for substandard quality of construction and not following the conditions.
In Bageshwar district, Bageshwar-Kapkot-Saung Motor roads were supposed to be widened at the cost of Rs 8.32 crore by the PWD. To facilitate the construction agency department concerned official did not bother to check the agency claim on ground and made advance payment on the basis of fake bank guarantee.
