Crimes against minors and women happening thick and fast particularly in the lalkuan area of Nainital district, a woman aged around 80 years had been allegedly sexually exploited by a 25- year- old Deeraj from Bindukhatta, resulting in her death on December 12, 2016.
And in another incident, a 27-year-old Suresh had allegedly sexually exploited a eight- year–old-girl from Verma Colony on April 14, 2017. More recently, a five- year- old girl had been allegedly molested by the storekeeper of a school located in lalkuan area of the district.
The people here are outraged, venting their anger against police not doing enough to stop their recurrence. Investigations have, however, revealed that the substance abusers are mostly involved in such heinous crimes that have happened in the lalkuan area over the past six months.
