The insecure traders based in Sitarganj fuming with anger over police having failed to trace the allegedly abducted trader Ravish Garg who had gone missing on May 19, an ultimatum of 24 hours has been given to Udham Singh Nagar police to crack the case. Notably, Garg had been allegedly abducted from Sitarganj on May 19 night when he was going back home after shutting down his cement and construction material shop at Sisauna Bazaar.
The decision to serve the ultimatum was taken at a meeting of Vyapar Mandal held at Agrasen Dharamshala on Wednesday. The businessmen warned that they would start an indefinite strike in the form of shutting down their shops from Friday onwards in case the abducted businessman remains untraced till Thursday evening. One of the protesters Rajesh Bansal said that five days having passed since Garg was abducted by unidentified criminals, police are still stumbling in the darkness sans any clue regarding the identity of the criminals involved. “The family members of Ravish are spending sleepless nights and not taking food since,” he added.
Without disclosing much about the progress of their investigation into this case, Udham Singh Nagar police said that following the case of abduction being lodged, several police teams, including Special Operation Group (SOG), have been formed to rescue the trader as well as to nab the culprits.
After the worried family members had approached the local police station, the police had started search operation. However, aside from recovering a scooty and a pair of sandals from a place two kilometres away from his residence, nothing concrete leading to the identities of the criminals have come the police way.
