Former MLA Rajkumar and Congress councillors on Tuesday protested against the delay in development work under councillors’ fund. They stated that even after the fund approval, no work has been started yet which is creating difficulties for every councilor answerable to the residents of their wards.
However, municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the tender process for majority of the wards will be started in the next few days. Addressing media persons during the protest Rajkumar said, “The councillors are unhappy as they are unable to start any development work because even after the fund has been cleared the tender process is yet to be completed.
The first meeting of the current MCD board was held in February this year and second was held in the month of June. We have met the officials regarding the matter. If no steps will be taken regarding the matter in two weeks then we will protest and lock down the MCD.” Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “As we have fewer employees in the MCD so it took us more time to check and draft the tenders. However, the work is almost complete now and the tender process will start in two or three days for majority of wards.’’
