The low-cost easy to transport bridges can prove a boon to Uttarakhand, but ironically no senior State Government officer and engineer from the department like PWD were present on the occasion. The DRDO and HESCO of Anil Joshi should be complemented to bring the technology to Uttarakhand, but it was surprising to see the choice of place for building the bridge. The bridge was built in the premises of HESCO over a small seasonal stream and probably very few people would actually use this. When this correspondent asked the DRDO scientists as to why this place was specifically chosen, they merely replied that this is only a technology demonstration project. Some people who witnessed the inauguration ceremony were of the firm belief that the bridge could have been constructed at some other place where more people would have benefitted from it.
