However, till now, police could not find the track to solve the murder case.
The investigation officer SI Chandra Mohan assured that the murder case will be solved soon. Apparently not convinced of such assurances, the family members of the deceased and the villagers of Kandola served a memorandum to district magistrate, requesting him to arrest the murder accused shortly.
Pauri district magistrate Chandra Sekhar Bhatt transferred the murder case involving the RTI activist Gajpal Singh to the regular police from the revenue police and the order of the transfer of murder case was received by the office of the Superintendent of police. On the request of the bereaved family members, Bhatt had the case transferred on 19 August.
Superintendent of Police Ajay Joshi appointed SSI Kotwali Pauri as the investigation officer in the murder case on 21 August. As the appointed investigating officer just started the probe he was transferred and the responsibility was given to sub- inspector Chandra Mohan and the investigation again started all over again.
It is pertinent to mention that the missing diary of Right of Information activist Gajpal Singh (65 years), resident of village Kandola in Pauri Tehsil, was lodged at revenue police on 4 August and his body was recovered by the revenue police team on 8 August in the forest of Pandali.
Sub district magistrate Pl Shah had told The Pioneer that no report had been lodged by the family members against any one in connection with the murder. Only a missing report was lodged by them.
On the basis of that report, the search team was constituted and the revenue police found the body of the RTI activist deep in the forest of Pandali. Shah said that a suo motto case was registered against unidentified persons under section 302, 201 Indian Penal Code.
