In view of increasing crime cases in the State capital, State Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Ram Singh Meena presided over a meeting with Garhwal Range DIG Amit Sinha, Dehradun SSP Ajay Rautela, SP (Traffic) Pradeep Rai and other police personnel and gave them necessary instructions to put a check on crime cases apart from solving registered cases.

Meena said, “Cent per cent FIRs should be lodged in the police station and police post if aggrieved persons approach the officer concerned.” He expressed disappointment at rise in crimes like thuggery, betting, burglaries and other offences in the State capital and directed the police officers to take preventive measures apart from taking steps for solving registered cases.

The police officers should convene meeting for reviewing crime cases with their subordinates periodically and give them necessary instructions to put a check on crime, said Meena. The police station officers have been directed to identify the places where highest number of cases of thuggery, betting and other offences are reported. With the deployment of force at banks and other commercial establishments and intensifying police patrolling, such offences should be checked in the city.

He further said that police should be vigilant on history sheeters and action should be taken against them as per the law of the land in case they are found guilty of a crime. Those police personnel who are executing their duty effectively should be awarded to boost their morale, he added.
