Uttarakhand Police would strengthen its network of local intelligence units in order to keep a strict vigil across the State for ensuring tight security. The lIU sleuths would pay special focus in bordering districts and sensitive areas in order to keep a track on various activities going along the State border.
Sources in the police department said that the lIU sleuths have been asked to intensify their movement and strengthen their network of informers. Any laxity on their part would earn wrath of the seniors. A source said that the clear directions have been given to intelligence sleuths to improve their performance on the ground.
“Take all possible steps to strengthen your network. Do whatever you want. I want good results,” an intelligence sleuth told his juniors in a recent meeting. He, according to the source, gave a rebuke to some of the sleuths who tried to give reasons which affected their efficiency.
Source said that the senior officer rebuffed all excuses. “I want results. Make a way in tough areas to gather inputs,” the officer said. He suggested some ways to the colleagues for coming out with best inputs. He asked them to enhance network of their informers along with ensuring movement in every possible area.
The sleuths have been asked to share the important inputs with their seniors immediately. It would be duty of the senior to intimate the top echelon about the inputs. Source said that the intelligence department has been asked to improve its way of functioning in order to keep an effective track on the activities which are against the nation and society.
