In order to search and rescue the missing children reported in various police stations of the State, Uttarakhand police have decided to launch an operation similar to ‘Operation Smile’ launched by Ghaziabad police recently. Its name will soon be declared, said State Additional DGP (law and order) Ram Singh Meena on Monday. ADGP Meena held a video conference with the district police heads and directed them to initiate measures to rescue the missing children in their districts. On the occasion, team members of ‘Operation Smile’, Ghaziabad shared their experiences on how they succeeded in rescuing the missing children from various places across the country. Meena further said that Uttarakhand (Haridwar) police had busted a children-trafficking racket a few months ago, arresting four persons, allegedly involved in lifting  children from the pilgrims or railway passengers while they were sleeping at Haridwar Railway Station. The arrested gang members include a couple- Krishnaveer and Rekha- which hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. Police had rescued seven babies from the gang members, he said.
