Though polling for the municipal corporation of Haldwani went off peacefully here on Sunday, the police personnel on duty had to sweat it out to ensure that the voters stand in queue and wait for their turn to exercise their franchise in many polling booths as on account of rather sunny day, the voters were trying to run for shelter to escape the heat.
Apart from the elderly or the senior citizens youngsters were also found breaking the queues time and again at the polling booth-23 at the Ramlila Ground in main city, Haldwani, around noon. Amid scorching heat of summer, exchange of heated words between the voters and the police personnel on duty only made the poll atmosphere more heated.
