In connection with the sensational murder of a 30-year-old Gurprit in a park at Premnagar on Friday evening, Dehradun police have secured one-day police remand for the accused Ashish from the court on Tuesday. Police had arrested the accused on Saturday and had sent him to jail on Monday.

He had been admitted at Doon Hospital as he had cut his veins in a hotel in Mussoorie in attempted suicide seemingly resulting from remorse. Deceased’s brother had registered a case against the accused in the police station, Premnagar on Saturday.

Premnagar police station in-charge and investigating officer of the case Yashpal Singh Bisht said that he had filed a petition earlier in the court, seeking police remand of the accused. The court has granted the plea and remanded him in police custody  for Wednesday, he said.

He further said that accused had already confessed his crime. “However, the police team members have been working on the case from several angles to nail the accused rightly,” he said. It is learnt that the accused will be interrogated during one day PCR to help the team understand the motive behind the crime.  Sources said that Ashish might have murdered Gurprit with whom he was in love as she, estranged from her husband, had been running relation with some other friends of hers.
