With the rise in crime cases in the State Capital, Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti held a meeting with the police station officers and directed them to take measures to prevent crimes and solve the registered cases. In view of President Pranab Mukherjee’s scheduled Uttarakhand visit later this month, the police station officers were directed to conduct verification drives involving the residents in their jurisdictional areas, he added. He further said that with Char Dham Yatra season being on, a large number of pilgrims is reaching the city on a daily basis. Steps should be taken by the police to ensure smooth flow of traffic during busy hours in the city.
SSP Jyoti sounded disappointed over increasing cases related to land disputes and crimes against women in the district. Cases related to chain snatching, burglary, theft, swindling and others are on the rise under various police stations in the district. The police officers were directed to conduct verification drives of the residents in their jurisdiction from time to time and ensure that each house is verified without delay.
The police officers were directed to intensify police patrolling in their jurisdictional areas too. Crime cases reported in their areas should be sorted out promptly and they should take measures to solve old registered crime cases, he added. Traffic police should be deployed at crossings to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city. The police control room officials were directed to provide correct and detailed answers if they receive any query from any of the pilgrims, he added.
