Cops fail to make headway in three city murder cases

Published on:

Three high profile murder cases wherein three women were brutally murdered in broad daylight were reported in the State capital in last one year. In all these cases, criminals managed to escape from the scene after committing crimes. Police have still not been able to ascertain the motive in these cases.

Critics opine that Police were active only after the murder and they failed to arrest the mastermind. These murders sent shock waves across the State capital, posing questions on the safety of women and senior citizens who live alone in their home. Police have not found concrete leads from questioning suspects apparently involved in these crimes.

These cases have also exposed district police’s claim about reducing crimes. Police should take measures to restore lost confidence among people.

It may be mentioned here that on October 16, 2012, a 63-year-old woman Pushpa Saklani, wife of senior advocate and Bar association, Dehradun ex-president OP Saklani was murdered in broad daylight by unidentified persons at her residence.

A 70-year-old woman, who was a relative of IG RS Meena, was murdered in her house at Sewla Kalan, Majra area under Patelnagar area in the first week of September. In another case, 40-year-old Neeru Saini, wife of contractor SK Saini was murdered at her residence in Teg Bahadur under Dalanwala Police station in broad daylight in September second week.
