Cops attach absconding MlA's properties

Following the instruction of court, the Uttarakhand police attached the properties of Rudrapur BJP MlA Rajkumar Thukral, who was absconding since an NBW was issued against him in connection with Rudrapur communal riots of 2011, on Saturday. Seeing this, a large number of BJP workers and Thukral supporters gathered outside his house but when they were shown an order of court, they could not dare to challenge the police. Talking to The Pioneer, leader of opposition Ajay Bhatt said that this incident has exposed true picture of Congress-led State Government. To deal with this, BJP legislature party meeting was called by the leader of opposition in Dehradun on December 30. Although he also claimed that "we have full faith on judiciary which is why MlA Thukral has approached Supreme Court for relief."

The process of attaching Thukral's property at his Adarsh Colony residence Rudrapur began amid tight security. The move comes days after the Chief Judicial Magistrate declared Thukral a proclaimed offender and issued the attachment orders which were pasted at his house, the official said.

Thukral has been evading arrest for more than two months ever since an NBW was issued against him in connection with the 2011 Rudrapur communal riots in which four persons were killed and 60 injured. Riots erupted in Rudrapur in 2011 after torn pages of a holy book were found outside a place of worship in the town.

Bhatt further said that enforcement agency is under severe pressure of the Congress Government; so they had no option just to do this.

Despite knowing the fact that MlA Thukral, who was framed in Rudrapur riot case after seven month of the incident, has approached Supreme Court.

"We had raised this issue inside the Vidhan Sabha, then treasury bench has assured that Government would withdraw the case but now situation is entirely different from what the claimed by the state in the house. It shows the State Government's doublespeak. It all happened to appease few congress leaders active in Rudrapur. Although Bhatt refused to name the leader, but given enough hint why Congress Government is doing this.

During the meeting with Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, MlA Thukral had appealed that the State Government should conduct CBI enquiry. Then MlA Thukral had expressed apprehension that he may be trapped into the case by the State Government.

Bhatt further said that it is open that how earlier BJP MlA Prem Chand Aggrawal was framed and later MlA Rajesh Shukla was framed and now MlA Thukral is being grilled. "These are enough examples to ascertain our claim that the Congress-led State Government may go to any extent to harass the BJP legislature." He also said that "with these incidents, we can imagine the situation of the common man".
