The Class IV contractual workers of health department have started boycotting work from Tuesday in protest against alleged pay disparity. These contractual workers assembled at the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun on the day and engaged in slogan shouting against the department. The workers alleged that despite several reminders the health department officials chose to ignore their demands so they have no option but to boycott work.
The district president of Union of Class IV employees, Nelson Kumar Arora said that these workers are working on paltry wage of `4,000 per month from last seven years. He said that these workers are working in the CHCs, CMO office and hospital for mentally ill patients, Selaqui. Arora said that it is a matter of great concern that these employees are not getting any of the benefit like increment, bonus, Provident Fund, dress and medical allowance.
He said that the class IV association fully supports the agitation of these workers and if need arises it too would join the work boycott call of the contractual workers.
