The High Court has served contempt notices to the secretaries of home and revenue for village watchmen and guards (Gram Prahari and Gram Rakshak) not being paid minimum wages despite earlier orders of the court. The single bench of justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari has sought a reply within four weeks.
Pithoragarh resident village watchman Prakash Singh, village guard Harak Ram and others had filed a contempt petition in the high court. They stated that the court had earlier directed that the intercession regarding payment of minimum wages should be resolved within eight weeks but this was not done by the state government.
