With the continuously fluctuating temperature in the State with each passing, the shortage of potable water has started becoming perennial problem.
Among from the major localities in the capital city, the problem of shortage of potable water coupled with supply of contaminated water has become a problem in the State.
The supply of contaminated potable water has become a cause of worry for the residents and the situation is worst in the remote areas of the district. Apart from the capital city, the supply of potable water is reported to be disrupted as the potable water pipelines are badly damaged after facing the brunt of the natural calamities.
Among the worst affected areas in terms of contaminated potable water supply is Dl road, Sewak Ashram road, Chukhuwala mohalla, Patelnagar, Indira colony, Shastardhara road, Onkar road, Madrassi Colony, Sapera basti, Khurbura, Kanwali road, Badripur, Nathanpur, Shamshergard, Nathuwala, Garhwali Colony, Nawada, Mata Mandir Marg, Old Survey road, Mannu Ganj, Kalidas road, Gandhigram etc. and adjoining localities of the capital city.

It is to be noted that residents are facing acute shortage of potable water and few colonies are bearing the brunt of low pressure along with the supply of contaminated water. One of the department sources from Jal Sansthan who wished anonymity told The Pioneer that water table is normally polluted during the rain season.
“The department also receives few complain regarding the damage of potable water pipelines at Pithowala zone and would be repaired at the earliest,” he said, adding that nodal agency from other departments sometimes damage potable water pipelines and financial penalty is also imposed, if any agency causes damage to the potable water pipelines.
