Brig (Retd) KG Behl, President, All India Consumers Council AICC), Uttarakhand expressed the council's resentment on the growing acts of rape and heinous crimes all over the country, especially against innocent minor girls.
Brig Behl said that it has been observed that in spite of making stricter laws on rape cases, making police alert and active to register such cases promptly and take quick action to book and punish culprits and establishing fast track courts, nothing worthwhile has emerged and rapes are being committed in different parts of the country unabated.
"It was expected that after the Delhi case of Damini, when so many hard steps were taken, people would be scared to commit such heinous crimes. But in spite of those, such crimes have gone up. This means that all steps were on paper alone and nothing was done in practice."
"Moreover it shows that there are some other factors which are prompting the culprits to commit these acts." He demanded that government must frame certain rules to help to victims and their families where ever such crimes take place in the country besides taking legal action.
