Construction of integrated well works for Mela moving at a snail's pace

The ongoing construction of integrated well near Gaurishankar Parking as part of Ardh Kumbh Mela preparatory works has been moving at a  snail’s pace. Irked by the slow progress of the important work, the executive engineer of Peyjal Nigam R P Joshi directed the workers to speed up.  The deadline of the project being set on 15 December, not much of progress has been noticed, he said.

While reviewing the work, the official asked the workers to finish the work right before 25 December. Once the construction of the well is completed  the water supply in the region would be surplus, say the engineers.

Inspecting the Kumbh mela works on Tuesday, Joshi asked the project manager Mohammad Missim and the department workers to  complete the work at the earliest.  He told The Pioneer that a 90- metre- long pipeline is being laid for the well and works of  52 metre has already been finished. “The rest of the work would be completed by the end of December,” he said.

This natural well will draw water from the ground water table and will be a boon for the tourists staying near Har Ki Pauri area since fresh water supply shall be abundant, he added.

later, the Pyjal Nigam team inspected the water works in Tibri, Rodibelwala and laljiwala areas near Har Ki Pauri. “There would be no compromise on the quality of the work. We are ensuring good quality pipelines used in the work. We hope once the work is completed there would be no reason for the people to grumble over scarcity of water  ,” affirmed Joshi.
