Congress takes out rally in protest against price rise

Congress members led by the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay took out a rally to protest against consistent price rise in the country here on Monday.

The protesters rallied raising slogans against the Central Government from the Congress Bhawan to the Clock Tower where the UPCC chief addressed the gathering. Upadhyay said that the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre had failed to control price rise. He said, “The consistent price rise especially in the case of pulses has exerted a severe impact on the economically weaker sections of society and the general public. The pulses which used to cost about Rs 70 per kilogram during the tenure of the UPA Government at the centre became as expensive as Rs 200 per kilogram after the BJP came to power at the Centre. During the campaign for parliamentary polls in 2014 prime minister Narendra Modi had assured the public of necessary action regarding important issues like price rise and development but nothing has been done to control price rise. The Congress will stage demonstrations at various places to expose the BJP,” said the UPCC chief.

Addressing party members, the UPCC vice president Jot Singh Bisht accused the BJP of favouring hoarders. Other party leaders also addressed the gathering accusing the Central Government of implementing anti-people policies.
