Opining that the Congress is the only party which can take Uttarakhand on the “right path”, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh has exhorted the party members to get prepared to “teach a lesson to the state government which is against the farmers, labourers, minorities and Dalits”. The PCC president was speaking at a meeting of all the PCC district, Mahanagar and city chiefs at the Congress Bhawan on Wednesday.

During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the progress made regarding the state organisational elections and membership campaign of the party. The PCC chief directed all the district heads of the party to work without bias in the ongoing organisational election process in coordination with the office bearer appointed by the All India Congress Committee to ensure timely completion of the task.He said, “Congress is the only party which can take Uttarakhand on the correct path. The time has now come for all Congress members to unite for teaching a lesson to this government which is not in favour of the farmers, workers, minorities and Dalits. It is very unfortunate that farmers in Uttarakhand are committing suicide in desperation while the Bharatiya Janata Party government is remaining silent,” he said, adding that the Congress will stage a protest outside Gandhi Park in Dehradun on Thursday against the death of farmers in the state.

The organisational election process was reviewed with all the district heads of the PCC in the meeting.  The membership list for all the districts was also scrutinised. The PCC vice president Jot Singh Bisht, Dehradun Mahanagar head Prithviraj Chauhan and various other office bearers of the party were among those present in the meeting.
