Congress members led by Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya observed Sunday as ‘Kala Dhan lao, Vada Nibhao’ Diwas by taking out a rally and handing over a memorandum to the District Magistrate, addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress members gathered at the party State head office on Rajpur Road and from there marched to the residence of the District Magistrate raising slogans.  Earlier, addressing party members, the PCC chief said that Congress members want to remind the Prime Minister and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev that during general election-2014 they had promised to the people that if the BJP came to power the black money of Indians kept abroad would be brought back to India within 100 days of Government formation. The black money thus returned was to be used especially on the development of women and the youth, they had promised.

Upadhyaya said, “Modi had also promised the citizens that bringing the black money to India would result in each family getting Rs 15 lakh, apart from Rs 25,000 monthly. The citizens would not have to pay any type of tax after black money was returned to India, it was promised.  However, about 200 days have passed since the BJP-led NDA came to power at the Centre but neither has black money been brought back to India nor were taxes on the citizens relaxed.

The people of India want to ask the PM and Ramdev when the promise related to black money will be fulfilled.” He alleged that Modi and Ramdev had misled the people for political gains which amounted to a political crime and exploitation of the people. Reaching the camp office of the district magistrate, the Congress members handed him a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister reminding him about the poll promise related to return of black money stashed abroad to India.
