Congress' objection forces CM to rethink?

Strong opposition by the Congress and reaction on the social media is being considered to be a major factor for the change in plan a day after office of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s informed about his plan to review development works in the 57 Assembly constituencies represented by Bharatiya Janata Party MlAs.

The 13 Assembly constituencies represented by Congress and Independent MlAs had not been included in the schedule of CM’s review meetings issued on Wednesday.

Responding to the initial plan of the CM to review works only in the constituencies represented by BJP MlAs, the Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh questioned whether those living in the 13 constituencies represented by Congress and Independent MlAs were foreigners. He said, “Does the CM consider people in these 13 constituencies to be foreignersIJ He should remember that during the term of the Congress Government we had focused on development in all constituencies irrespective of the parties to which the MlAs representing the segments belonged to. If the Government maintains such a stance, we will discuss the issue and chalk out a plan to strongly oppose this,” he stressed.

Earlier, the Kedarnath MlA from Congress, Manoj Rawat had written an open letter to the CM questioning whether no work worth reviewing had been done in the 13 constituencies not represented by BJP MlAs. Questioning why the 11 and two constituencies represented by Congress and Independent MlAs respectively were missing from the list of segments to be reviewed by the CM, Rawat had had stated that the CM had taken an oath to serve the State and its people without any discrimination.
