Congress leader Asha Manorama Dobariyal Sharma adopted a unique method of lodging protest on Saturday when she demanded that the overhead water tanks be converted as watch towers as they are not serving the purpose they are meant for.
The Congress leader and her supporters reached the over head water tank located in Yamuna Colony and expressed their anger at erratic water supplies and low pressure.
Dobariyal was armed with a telescope to hammer home the point that the tank should be converted to a watch tower as it is not providing water to the residents.
“This tank is ideally suited for a watch tower as one can have an excellent view of Mussoorie from here ,’’ she said sarcastically. Sharma said that there are many overhead tanks in the city which are yet to be connected with water supplies.
She said that the people in many areas of the city are grappling with problem of low pressures and it is a pity that the department is unable to connect the overhead tanks despite spending crores of rupees on them.
Congress workers Harjeet Singh, Vinit Nagpal, Kuldeep Dobariyal, Harish Nagpal and many residents of Yamuna colony and surrounding areas were present during the agitation.
