Congress demands roll back in petrol hike

Terming the increase in prices of petrol and diesel effected by Uttarakhand Government unfortunate and anti people, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief, Pritam Singh has said that the decision has been taken at a time when the general public is reeling under the crisis generated by the novel Coronavirus.

In a statement on Friday, the PCC President said that the international price of crude are falling on a regular basis from quite some time and under such circumstances the Government should have reduced the prices to provide some relief to the people. However instead of providing relief the State Government has increased the burden of general public by increasing the prices with an objective to fill its coffers, Pritam added. He said that the price hike is unwarranted and there is big resentment among the people on it.

The PCC president said that the State Government should reconsider its decision and roll back the price hike.

He suggested that the target of more revenue collection could have been achieved by increasing the prices of liquor further.
