Congress councillors at Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) gheraoed the Mayor Vinod Chamoli complaining about the consistent delay in finalising the schedule of the board meeting. They also raised the issue of the deteriorating sanitation in the city.

Raising the civic issues, leader of opposition at MCD, Ninu Sehgal stated that board meeting was earlier scheduled to be held on February 12, later it was postponed to February 23 and till date no date has been fixed for it. He said that as per the Act, the board meeting should be conducted once in two months and meeting of working committee should be held once in a month. He said that these meetings are generally meant to resolve various issues related to sanitation and development of the town. The councillors urged the Mayor to finalise the dates for both these meetings.

Councillors also raised the problems being faced with the Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) company. They requested the mayor to look into the matter seriously and resolve it at the earliest. They also asked Chamoli to ask the officials concerned to mark the encroached land of MCD and provide it for use in a manner which would also help in improving the economy of MCD. Councillors also sought action to resolve the pending house tax issue.

Councillors Jagdish Dhiman, Vinay Kohli, Beena Bisht, Sonu Uniyal and Ashok Kohli were among those who met the Mayor.
