Congress, BJP councillors lock horns over new house tax policy

Published on:

Differences of opinion between the BJP and the Congress councillors in the MCD regarding the revised house tax policy have continued. The councillors even failed to reach any conclusion after discussing the issue in a meeting chaired by Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli on Saturday.

Few BJP councillors agreed to the recent amendments in the house tax policy and asked for its implementation but the Congress councillors expressed their disagreement on it.

Congress councillors disagreed to categorisation done for imposing the house taxes. As per the recent changes made in the house tax policy the city has been divided into four categories— A, B, C and D and the taxes would be imposed differently on these areas. Councillors said that required changes would be made in the policy, which would be decided within a week.
