Barely four months ago, the national highway which is under construction was repaired and the present situation is such that one has to look for patches of road amidst puddles in this rainy season. Protesting against the Urban Development Minister, Congress workers demonstrated by standing inside such ditches on the road here on Sunday morning.
The whole stretch between Prem Nagar Ashram crossing and Shankaracharya Chowk gives one a bumpy ride which is leading to road accidents. Protesting against the local MlA and State Urban Development and Housing minister Madan Kaushik, woman Congress leader Vimla Pandey said, "Never was the condition of the highway as bad as it is seen these days. One cannot traverse even one kilometre straight, the zig zag driving to avoid the water-filled potholes on the middle of the highway is posing risk to the commuters.
The BJP State Government has failed to facilitate even the basics like roads."
The Congress workers who took to the streets in protest included mainly those from Govind Puri, Vishnu Garden and Singh Dwar areas.
