The Uttarakhand State Women’s Congress members in Dehradun burnt Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev’s effigy to “remind” him of the promise made by him to the people on the issue of black money during the lok Sabha elections. Speaking on the occasion, the party women said that during the parliamentary polls, Ramdev had assured the public that black money stashed abroad by Indians would be returned to the nation but this has not been done yet.
They pointed out that the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee had recently organised the “Kala Dhan Wapas lao, Vada Nibhao” and would organise a demonstration at Haridwar on January 29 to elicit Ramdev’s attention on the issue. They pointed out that during the lok Sabha elections, Ramdev had elicited the attention of the nation by raising the issue of black money stashed abroad by Indians but he and prime minister Narendra Modi had lost the trust of the people but not fulfilling their assurances on this issue, they averred.
