Cong to go ahead with its party restructuring plan

Published on:

With the Bhagwanpur by-polls over and counting to begin next week, the State Congress party leaders are aiming at the inner party restructuring up to the block level. And as the party girds up for the moment, many a senior members still seem to be ‘unhappy’ for not finding a place in the first list of the State Working Committee (SWC) released on March 25 this year.

But they have not lost their hope as many among them are eagerly waiting for the second list of the SWC office bearers that the State Congress party leadership announced to release soon after the by-poll.

Figuring of names of kin of some senior party leaders has only disappointed many such party members who have been seeking a role for themselves in the party organisation or in the Government for a long time.

They strongly feel that the party has ignored the deserving and ‘hardworking’ members.  The State Congress party had been able to form new SWC appointing more than 100 leaders in the said committee after a gap of nine months since appointment of Kishore Upadhyay as State party Congress party president.

But those who could not get berth in this committee have maintained that there are still many such workers who have honestly worked for the party over the years.

It is to be noted that the demand for accommodating party workers in different Government bodies or in the party organisations was raised within the State Congress soon after the formation of the Congress led State Government in Uttarakhand in 2012.

Though almost all party MlAs and many other party leaders have already been given responsibilities in different Government committee and councils during the past three years, the list of position- seekers is still long in the state Congress party.

A positive outcome in the Bhagwanpur by-polls in favour of the Congress is vital for the state Congress leadership to go ahead with its party restructuring plan.
