Accusing the State Government of trying to stall the construction of inter state bus terminal (ISBT) planned by the previous State Government in Haldwani, the leader of opposition and local MlA Indira Hridayesh has warned that she will sit on a hunger strike with thousands of supporters if the State Government doesn’t clarify the status of this project within 30 days.
Addressing the media at a Press conference at her residence here on Friday, Hridayesh said that she had worked hard to facilitate the ISBT constrctuion project in Haldwani.
This ISBT was not only for Haldwani but for the entire Kumaon region. She opined that the Bharatiya Janata Party State Government does not want the ISBT to be constructed here. She said that the previous State Government headed by the Congress had proposed land at Gaulapar for construction of the ISBT. The contract for this task was awarded to a company and about Rs 2.5 crore was also given to the company. However, now the BJP government is creating a hurdle in the execution of this project.
Hridayesh alleged that the State Government was playing vote politics and least bothered about developmental issues being faced in the State. She said, “Whenever, the BJP has formed Government, the developmental works have been stalled.
By stalling the construction of the ISBT at Haldwani, the state government has only substantiated this belief.
Even if this government marks the land to be used for the ISBT and then lays the foundation for the work, it will not be able construct the ISBT in its five year term.
