Cong teachers cell opposes higher edu dept office shifting

The Intellectual and teachers cell of State Congress committee has termed shifting of regional office of Higher education department as unfortunate and an attempt to malign the image of Congress party.

The office bearers of the cell met here on Sunday and demanded that the decision to shift the office from State capital should be revoked.

The convener of the intellectual cell Pradeep Joshi said that Higher education Minister Indira Hridayesh was misguided by vested interests due to which a very important office was shifted. It is worth mentioning here that the office was shifted recently triggering protest from the college teachers of Garhwal region.

In meeting a demand for declaring May 28, 2013 as cut off date for implementing the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) was made. Joshi said that the State Government should act against the officials of the secretariat having anti teacher mindset.

In the meeting the Union HRD minister Smriti Irani was criticised for not giving time to the representatives of teacher organisations.  Joshi said that members of the cell decided that to meet the state Chief Minister Harish Rawat on August 02 in which the CM would be apprised of the problems of the teaching community.  It was also decided that the members of the cell would organise sessions in all districts of the State to inform about the positive works of the State Government and to negate the propaganda of the BJP.
