Reacting sharply on the statement of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in which he said that the State Government is planning to introduce National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Uttarakhand also, the Opposition Congress has said that the CM is giving such statements to put a veil on his failures. Taking up the cudgels on behalf of the Congress party, its vice president Surya Kant Dhasmana said the Trivendra Singh Rawat Government has proved a failure on all fronts and the statement of CM on NRC is whimsical and is given to hide failures of almost three years of rule of BJP in the State.
He said that the developmental activities have come to a standstill in the State. The Congress leader said that the unemployment is on rise in the state and the industrial activities have ceased. He said that the health services in Uttarakhand are in very bad shape and the Government schools are getting closed down. The Congress leader said that amid such pathetic condition, the CM has found a new rhetoric of NRC.
He added that if the CM feels that the infiltrators, foreigners and illegal emigrants are residing in the state then he should bring these facts before public.
Probably taking a cue from his Haryana counterpart, Manohar Lal Khattar, Uttarakhand CM Rawat on Monday said that the Uttarakhand is also mulling over implementing the NRC in the State.
He, however, added that the issue would be brought before the state cabinet for discussion.
