'Cong rule in State complete failure'

Published on:

After terming the Congress rule in Uttarakhand as a complete failure, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that more than 200 murders were reported in the last one year in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand.

He lamented that law and order situation has been deteriorating in the state since the Congress was voted to power in Uttarakhand. While addressing the mediapersons in a press conference held at state party office on Thursday, Dr Nishank said that apart from 234 murders, 174 cases of rape were also reported in the state in the last one year. After expressing concern over the deteriorating situation of law and order in the state, he said that 215 cases of kidnapping of women and 137 kidnapping cases were also registered in the police stations.

According to him, the Uttarakhand has turned heaven for the criminals as 28 cases of dacoity were registered till March, 31, this year.

Expressing his concern, Dr Nishank said that Congress-led state government is yet to introduce potent steps to curb criminal cases in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand.

He said that criminal cases are not only increasing in the capital city but also in the other parts of the state also. Dr Nishank also alleged that the state government is purposely saving one accused, who is not only having criminal background but also a land mafia.

“Despite the fact that the more than one dozen cases were registered against the accused in different police station of the district, the state Government has submitted affidavit in the court, highlighting about his clean character,” he said, adding that the accused is well politically connected and purchasing properties at much lower prices than its actual cost after threatening land owners. He also alleged that the state government is purposely supporting him despite the fact the non-bailable warrant was also issued against him. Nishank also lamented that the state government is purposely quashing the orders and beneficiary schemes which were introduced during BJP regime in Uttarakhand.

According to him, the higher parts of the state lacks basic amenities like road, potable water, health facilities and the state government is yet to take effective steps to redress the grievances of those villagers, who are living in the tough hilly areas of the state. MlA and former Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Harbans Kapoor and State Spokesman Satish lakhera were also present.
