Eyeing the general elections-2014, the Congress led State Government which has so far not received a positive response from people in either the Tehri lok Sabha by-poll or the recently held local body polls despite introducing some popular schemes like unemployment allowance, now seems to be trying to reach out to the people by implementing popular measures like grant of bicycle or fix deposit to girls studying in Government run schools.
The interesting fact is that the State Government has already issued order to the district administrations to ensure cent percent implementation of this scheme in due course of time.
The matter of fact is that seriousness of the State Government about successful implementation of this scheme becomes evident from that fact that it has already held a review meet to assess the progress of this popular scheme like grant of bicycle or fix deposit to the girls and has given necessary directions to the local district administrations.
"Keeping in view the Government’s directions, we have already directed the district education department to give maximum exposure to this scheme with the help of the local administration," said the officials concerned of the Udham Singh Nagar district administration.
It is worth mention here that, as the general secretary of State BJP Prakash Pant has allegedly said, out of seven lakh unemployed youths registered with the State unemployment exchange only about 1500 unemployed youths have so far been able to get the much-talked about dole.
However, general secretary of the State Congress Prayag Bhatt, while talking to The Pioneer said that as the process has been introduced to help the unemployed youths of the state by way of introducing the unemployment allowance, so it will definitely help the unemployed youths.
Similarly, other popular schemes like grant of bicycle or fix deposit to girl students of government schoolswill also go a long way in encouraging them for taking up education.
"More importantly, we are also hopeful that these popular schemes which are being run after all to assist the people of this state would also help party ahead in the elections," he said.
It should be noted that under this scheme girls of class IXbelonging to plain areas will receive bicycle worth Rs2850, while fix deposit worth this amount is issued to a girl of the same class in mountainous area.
