A day after the State Congress announced to demonstrate in Dehradun on Sunday when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives to inaugurate the Investors’ Summit, the State Congress president Pritam Singh said on Thursday that the party is not against the summit as is being projected by the ruling BJP. “Things are being distorted by the saffron camp.
Our only objective is to make the Prime Minister to reply on two important questions-the price the country is paying for Rafale fighter jets and the spike in prices of essential commodities when he arrives here,” he said. Notably, the State BJP leaders dubbed the demonstration programme as reflecting the anti-development mindset of the opposition party. “The PM owes an answer to the nation on these two issues. We are not opposed to the investors’ summit,” the State party chief said while addressing a meeting of the party leaders at the State Congress office on Thursday. The meeting was convened to make the proposed sit-in the party would stage at Gandhi Park on October 7 a major success.
The party leaders have been given responsibilities regarding the upcoming stir during the meeting, the party sources said.
The meeting was attended among others by the former Ministers Navprabhat and Dinesh Agarwal, former MLA Ambresh Kumar and PCC vice-president Surya Kant Dhasmana.
