Congress MlAs especially close confidant of ex-CM Vijay Bahuguna, have started murmuring that Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who is yet to become a member of Uttarakhand legislative Assembly, should contest the election from Doiwala seat.
Although Chief Minister Office (CMO) says that Doiwala is being represented by the BJP since 2002 when first assembly election took place so it would be tough for the CM to win the seat. It would be pertinent to mention here that CM Rawat is currently MP from Haridwar lok Sabha seat because newly elected 16th lok Sabha yet to take oath. Although Doiwala falls under Haridwar Parliamentary constituency so anti-CM Rawat faction is putting pressure over the party high command to ask CM Rawat to contest election from the seat otherwise State will have to face another code of conduct due to assembly by-poll. For this, they are going to meet party high command in next few days.
