Cong misleading youths on job allowance: BJP

Published on:

The State BJP has accused the Congress-led State Government of misleading lakhs of youths of this State in the name of providing them unemployment allowance.

Granting unemployment allowance  to educated youths was one of the main promises the Congress made during Assembly polls last year.

But as on March 31, only 1,500 unemployed youths have been granted unemployment allowance, said newly appointed State BJP general secretary Prakash Pant, during his Kumaon visit on Friday.

It is to note that there are about seven lakh unemployed youths presently registered with the State employment exchange, but it is quite concerning to know that only 1500 unemployed youths have so far been able to get this unemployment allowance, further said the State BJP general secretary.

This is quite injustice to the youths of this State. The Congress-led State Government that has failed miserably to create any kind of job opportunities for youths here, has also misled them in the name of providing minimum financial assistance in the form of unemployment allowance, added the senior BJP leader.

The BJP strongly criticise  this Government on this issue and will continue to raise concerns of greater public interest.  We also call upon our party activists to strongly take up this issue during the BJP’s nationwide ‘jailbharo andolan’ which is going to be started  from May 27 to June 2, Pant further said.

During this ‘jail bharo’ campaign the main focus of the State BJP would be on how to  expose failures of the Congress led State Government during the past over one year rule in the State, apart from raising the corruption and inflation that the country has been facing under the present Congress led UPA Government at the Centre for the past a decade, he informed.

The common people are badly upset with both the State and Central Governments. Instead of addressing the concerns of the citizens, this Congress led State Government seems to be busy in promoting its own interests.

Issues like the SIIDCUl land scams only give that impression, Pant  pointed out. He also lashed out at the Congress led State Government for mounting undue pressure on its officials.

Resignation of the Vice-Chancellor of the Kumaon University a few days ago citing alleged non-cooperation and pressures from the  Government bears testimony to this fact, he added.
