Cong 'ignores' migration issue in U'khand

The Congress party which claims to win all the five lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand  basking on its past glory, seems to have done nothing with Uttarakhand's perennial concerns like migration.

Chaudhary lal Singh, co-in charge of Congress party's Uttarakhand affairs, who has been assigned the job of boosting the morale of the party cadre and tracking party's winning prospects ahead of the general elections in the State, seems to be little worried or unaware of the mountainous State's concerns like migration, unemployment to name a few which were instrumental in creation of the new State.

During his visit to Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar parliamentary constituency here on Tuesday, when he was confronted to seek what his party has in store to work out  burning issues like migration that Uttarakhand has been facing endlessly, he maintained that there is no migration. The MNREGA scheme that the Congress brought, has helped the common people in a big way. Since the common people in rural areas have started getting employment at home under this MNREGA scheme, therefore there is no migration, he added.

However, it is worth mention here that migration of people from many a number of villages in rural and remote parts of hill districts of Uttarakhand for better livelihood options, jobs continues even after a decade or so of creation of new State.

At the same when the issue of long pending Jamrani dam project that was proposed over four decades ago to meet the drinking water needs of Haldwani and its adjacent areas was raised before him to seek how the Congress party would solve the long pending issue, he showed his unawareness about any such project. However, when the issue of poor presence of his party MP from the Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar seat K C Singh Baba , in his constituency was raised, Chaudhary lal Singh had no answer except defending incumbent K C Singh Baba. “He is an honest man and he always raised issue of his constituency in parliament in a big way, said Chaudhary lal Singh. The Congress party has introduced MNREGA and recently passed food security law among a few other schemes to help the common man. Besides, our Government has also improved road connectivity across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Youjana and the better connectivity network has only helped improve routine way of life,” maintained Chaudhary lal Singh.

“So the Congress party has always worked to improve the life of common people and for development. People have seen what the Congress party did under N D Tiwari regime in this State. later Vijay Bahuguna carried forward that legacy of the party. Now the Harish Rawat Government would definitely succeed to meet the aspiration of the people of the hill State in the coming times. That is why we are hopeful of wining all seats of lok Sabha in Uttarakhand and we appeal to the people to support the Congress party,” he added.
