Terming the Uttarakhand Government a failure on all fronts, the state unit of Congress party held a vehement protest at Gandhi Park here on Monday. As part of the scheduled programme, large number of Congress workers assembled at Rajiv Bhawan, the state headquarters of the party on the day. From here they started a protest march. Holding flags and placards, the Congressmen shouting slogans against the anti people policies of the state government marched to the clock tower. From here, the march proceeded to the Gandhi Park where it got converted into a protest meeting. Addressing the meeting, the President of the Pradesh Congress Committee said that the people of the state are suffering from the anti people policies of the BJP government which has completed more than two and half years in office. Launching a scathing attack on Trivendra Singh Rawat led state government; the PCC President said that mining, liquor and land mafia are ruling the roost in Uttarakhand. He said that increase in the prices of petrol and diesel have fuelled price rise which is hitting the people hard. The PCC President claimed that the state government is immersed neck deep in corruption. “When this government was sworn in, the CM claimed that Lokayukt would be brought in within 100 days but even after more than two and half years there are no signs of Lokayukt. The industry of transfer and posting is thriving in the state.’’ Singh also took the government for task for making amendments in the Panchayati Raj act and warned that if these amendments are not taken back, the Congress party would hit streets.
Former PCC President Kishore Upadhyaya said that recent victory of Congress in urban local body election of Srinagar and Bajpur after Lok Sabha elections where BJP won all five seats proved that BJP wins by hacking EVM. “In the elections of Srinagar and Bajpur, ballots were used and Congress candidates won. It shows that BJP wins elections by manipulating EVMs.’’ The leader of Opposition in Uttarakhand assembly, Indira Hridayesh said anti people policies of BJP government have ensured that BJP would lose assembly election of 2022. She exhorted the Congress workers to remain prepared to fight for the cause of people.
